The town, it says, is of no real interest beyond the ATM and the market. That verdict is fair and also completely beside the point, because almost every traveller who has ever set foot on Don Det or Don Khon - the two most visited islands in the whole of Si Phan Don, the Four Thousand Islands - has stood on this riverbank first, bag at their feet, waiting for a boat. Ban Nakasang, spelled Nakasong on about half the tickets, is a gateway. Gateways are not designed to be looked at. They are designed to be passed through.]]></description>
